Interview: Noah Marion

One of the most amazing aspects of twitter is its ability to connect people from all over the world. In my case it connected me with Noah Marion from Noah Marion Quality Goods. Noah is based out of Austin, TX where he works on NoahMarion.com and an art gallery named House Gallery. Although a hand full of people have helped him along the way, it's basically a one man show. "I taught myself to flourish" and one very important person's support has helped him through it all, his mother. But how did his venture in leather making get started? It seems that it all began with a sewing machine he inherited from his father. He started making bags and then went on to leather. "Leather has an ingrained affection to it. Its timeless." His brother gave him a wallet and there were, in his opinion, some design flaws. He immediately started to problem solve and create his own wallets. One of Noah's mantra's is no unnecessary excess. When visiting his site you'll see that mantra over and over again, everything has clean lines and a pure functional design.

Where did you go to school?
Tulane University for Fine Arts with a focus on large scale sculptures.

Whose career do you use as a model for what you want your company to be like?
Billy Kirk, Wood and Faulk, Louis Vuitton, and Gucci amongst others.

How has social media changed the way you do business?
Social media has totally changed the world. There are people all over the world commenting on my designs on instagram. Its definitely affected my sleep schedule. Social media is bringing the world together in a very different way.

What do you listen to when your working?
I listen to Billie Holiday, folk music, old jazz and blues. I also listen to old hip-hop from my childhood.

Uno de los de los aspectos mas asombrosos de twitter es su habilidad para relacionar a la gente en todo el mundo. En mi caso me conectó con Noah Marion de Noah Marion Quality Goods. Noah se encuentra en Austin, Tejas donde él trabaja en lo que viene siendo Noah Marion.com y en una galería de arte, House Gallery. Un puñado de gente le ha ayudado en el camino, pero se trata básicamente de él y su tema. “Me enseñé a mi mismo a florecer,” una persona muy importante le ha brindado su apoyo y su ayuda,  su mamá.  Cuando comenzó su aventura con la piel todo se inició con una máquina de coser que heredó de su papá. Empieza haciendo bolsas de tela …Y entonces siguió con la piel. “La piel tiene un afecto intrínseco en sí misma. Siempre válido.” Su hermano le dio una billetera y en su opinión tenía defectos. Inmediatamente empezó a buscar resolverlos y crear sus propias billeteras. Uno de los pensamientos de Noah es “no hay necesidad de excesos.” Cuando visiten su sitio web verán su “pensamiento” por todas partes, todo tiene líneas limpias y un diseño puramente funcional.

En donde estudiaste?

En la Universidad de Tulane. Estudie las Bellas Artes con un enfoque en esculturas.

Como ha cambiado los medios de comunicación social (facebook, twitter, instagram) tu negocio?

Los medios de comunicación social han cambiado el mundo. Hay gente de todas partes del mundo dejando comentarios de mis productos en Instagram. Definitivamente a cambiado mi horario de dormir. Los medios de comunicación social esta conectando al mundo en una manera nueva y diferente.

Que clase de música escuchas cuando trabajas?

Yo escucho a Billie Holiday, música folk, jazz y blues antiguos. También escucho el hip-hop de hace años.
