My Visit To The Orphanage In Mexico

Mi Visita Al Orfanato

At my mother's office they raised funds to buy some much needed supplies for an orphanage in Tijuana, Mexico called La Roca Casa Del Niño. As soon as I heard this I immediately said I wanted to help out. It was such an awesome opportunity.  Awesome in the sense that it was a very unique experience to help some one in need in a very direct way. My mother and I bought the children sneakers and as I was reading the list with their names and ages and shoe size I was so moved by the thought that these children did not have a parent to take care of them and buy them shoes; something that seems so basic and accessible to most of us.

We drove down to Tijuana and arrived at the Orphanage. The Kids were playing and got so excited as soon as they saw us. They were called to gather in the living room and we got to call each one of them by name, give them a pair of shoes and see their faces light up. While they waited their turn they each enjoyed a small bag of chips we brought them.

We were given a tour of the orphanage and it was very humbling to see the conditions they live in. The place is very clean and they are making due with what they have. Everything they have is through donations be it labor or actual supplies and food.

These are all the kids! My mom and I are all the way in the back. It took us a couple of minutes to get all the kids situated. What an awesome time.
