#FBF: Wall Of Sound with Mark Ronson

Every time I listen to Uptown Funk I can't help but think of my shoot with producer extraordinaire, Mark Ronson. So on this special edition of Flashback Friday, I think back of my days as a fashion stylist assistant on set for British GQ's April 2008 issue. These are just a few of the shots from the editorial but you get the idea of the amazing space we were in. We went to a warehouse in Queens where every floor seemed taken from a page from Alice In Wonderland. It was truly unforgettable.

With a new year comes new opportunities with that state of mind Adentro style has joined the world of tumblr. The site is named Adentro Style Annex, it will compliment the blog but will include womenswear, interiors, landscapes, art, and of course menswear.

The men's shows in Milan are well underway and these are two of the most interesting trends so far. The first set shows what I'd like to call silky-sheen. Zegna, Corneliani, Bottega Veneta and Gucci show the classic double breasted suit and two-button suit with an extra shine. The other trend was best named by Michael Hainey GQ Deputy Editor, he called it on his twitter feed @MichaelHaieny as, Skittles. So my question is will you "taste the rainbow?" (I couldn't help myself)

Las pasarelas de Milan han comenzado y estas son algunas de las tendencias mas interesantes hasta el momento. El primer grupo muestra lo que yo llamo silky-sheen, las telas tienen sierto brillo como seda. Zegna, Corneliani, Bottega Veneta y Gucci muestran los gabanes con mas brillo. A year ago this week I was at the Jets stadium in New Jersey on the set of the GQ September cover issue featuring Mark Sanchez! What a great shoot. It's amazing how fast time flies.

San Francisco Pt. 2

In this installment of the San Francisco travel guide I invite you to do a little exploring in the neighborhood called The Mission. Although, I had never been to that area it was very easy to find my way around. One of the places on my list, was the store UnionMade. They've been mentioned by GQ on their 100 things to know this summer.

En este proximo segmento del guía para San francisco les invito a que vallan al barrio llamado The Mission.  Aunque nunca había estado allí fue fácil encontrar lo. Uno de los sitios en mi lista fue la tienda UnionMade. La revista GQ los menciono como uno de las 100 cosas que debes saber este verano.

You can find them on the corner of 18th street and Sanchez street. The curation of brands is a mix of urban and outdoor with some very interesting Japanese brands. They carry Filson and Gant Rugger but also had brands I've never heard of before like Caputo & Co. and Duluth bags. Ladies, do not dismay they have a small section of women's wear and have plans to open up a women's store in the near future.

Los puedes encontrar en la esquina de la 18 calle y la calle Sanchez. Encontraras una mezcla de marcas urbanas y de marcas mas rusticas incluso marcas japonesas. Ellos tienes las marcas Filson y Gant Rugger pero también otras marcas desconocidas como Caputo & Co. y Duluth bags. Señoritas no se preocupen ellos si tienen ropa de damas y pronto habríran una tienda para damas.

Once your done there, walk down 18th street and you'll find this beautiful building. Walk a couple of more blocks and you'll find world renown bakery Tartine. Be aware there is no sign outside. Anything you eat there will be amazing; I especially loved the coconut macaroons. 

Ya que estas por ahí, camina por la calle 18 y encontraras este bello edificio. Camina par de calles mas para ir a Tartine, una famosa repostería. Cuidado, no hay un letrero. Cualquier cosa que escojas será delicioso; a mi especialmente me gustaron los macaroons de coco.

The main reason I was heading down there was for a small Venezuelan place I heard of called Pica Pica. Their menu is small but their stuff is so good. I tried one of each kind of empanadas they had! 

La razón que estaba en ese barrio era por un restauran venezolano llamado Pica Pica. El menú es pequeño  pero todo es muy rico. yo probé cada sabor de empanadas que tenían disponible!

On the way there I saw this. Freemans Sporting Club is also in San Francisco and yes they have a barber and a small store in the back. It totally reminded me of the Bowery in NYC. What does this all mean? It means you should go down to The Mission pronto. As you can see there are some amazing places to visit and there are a bunch of other stores around especially vintage shops.

En la misma calle vi esto, que Freemans Sporting Club se encuentra también en San Francisco y si tienen peluqueros y una tiendita en la parte de atrás. Totalmente me recordó de la tienda en Nueva York. Que quiere decir todo esto? Quiere decir que tienes que ir a este barrio y explorar. Como puedes ver hay sitios bien interesantes de visitar y hay muchas mas tiendas especialmente tiendas de segunda mano.

Its been very hectic at work "so much to do and so little time" as they say. Now I'm back and excited for the upcoming posts.

I've had a love for the color grey for a long time now. When I saw this editorial it had to be included in this blog. As creative director Jim Moore point out, grey jeans is where it's at. From left to right- J.Lindeberg, J.Brand, Diesel, Gilded Age, and Prada.

A couple of days before I moved out of New York, GQ contacted me to assist them. It was an amazing opportunity to leave the city with a BANG! The whole experience was great. Mark was awesome, he was willing to try on all the looks the editors had prepared for him and to his surprise he liked them. We shot at the Jets stadium and it was unforgettable. I wont even forget how hot it was there while we shot on the field. It felt like we were walking in an oven. All in all the shoot went seamlessly which I totally appreciated as the assistant on set.

Par de días antes de mudarme de Nueva York GQ me contacto pidiendo que los ayudara con una sesion de foto. Era una gran oportunidad de terminar mi tiempo en la ciudad con estilo. La experiencia fue fenomenal. Mark fue impresionante, el se probo todos los looks que los editores le hicieron y se sorprendio por que le gustaron. La sesión se llevo acabo en el estadio de los Jets y fue inolvidable. Nunca me olvidare del calor que habia ese dia especialmente en el campo de football. Se sentía como si estuvieramos en un horno. La sesión resulto sin ningun problema y yo estaba agradecido por eso siendo el asistente presente.

Now, that I am more settled in my new home I can start thinking about all the new places to go to. I see many road trips in my future, there is a whole new world to discover out here in the west! This editorial with clothes from JCrew, AllSaints and Gap to name a few gives plenty of ideas of what to wear on the open road.

Ahora, que ya he desempacado todo, puedo empezar a pensar en los nuevos lugares donde puedo ir. Veo, muchos viajes en el futuro cercano, hay un nuevo mundo para descubrir aquí en el oeste! Este editorial muestra ropa de JCrew, AllSaints y Gap que nos da muchas ideas en que podemos ir vestidos en nuestro próximo viaje.

The Place To Go For Accessories

Do you ever read the credits of the editorials in your favorite magazines? That is where you find out where you can find all that great stuff the model/actor is wearing. There you will see such names as Gucci, Dolce & Gabbana, J.Crew and one that might not be so well known, The Tie Bar. Magazines like GQ use them all the time to add that extra cool factor to their looks. Just this month they featured the pocket square from The Tie Bar, as seen above. They have the accessories you need for just the right price. You'll be able to find pocket squares ($8), ties ($15) cuff links ($20), and of course tie bars ($15). Go to their site and get something nice for yourself it will not even make a dent in your wallet.

No Collar, No Problem

The henley is something that needs to be on your radar. In this GQ editorial we can see actor Matt Bomer from the show White Collar show us different styles and ways to wear it. If there is something that guys need is to be open to more fashion choices. T shirts and button downs are not the only choices and if you own polos that is a great start. Continue to expand your wardrobe by adding some henleys, wear it under a jacket or cardigan or shirt with the sleeves rolled up. El henley es algo que tiene que estar en tu radar. En este editorial de GQ podemos ver el actor Matt Bomer del show White Collar que nos muestra diferentes estilos y formas de usarlo. Si hay algo que hombres necesitan es estar mas abiertos a más opciones de moda. Camisetas y camisas no son las únicas opciones y si usted es dueño de polos eso es un gran comienzo.
