Spring Blues

We're practically half way through May and we still can't put away our sweaters here in the northeast. So here I am embracing the cold temperatures with this Wrangler sweatshirt and still feeling like it's spring with the Sebago boat shoes. How are you making your outfits work with this indecisive weather?

I'm a sucker for the color blue and comfortable sweatshirts. So this one here was a win-win!

These Sebago boat shoes have become my go-to's for spring and summer.

Leather Weather

Mother Nature has been quite fickle this season and I'm okay with that as it lets me enjoy the newest additions to my wardrobe, a moto jacket from Andrew Marc and Sperry boots. These pieces are part of the new classic styles you'll see from now on. I like to call them no-brainer pieces that you'll never regret owning.

Love the subtle details of the moto jacket and quilted shoulder.

Chambray Shirt- Life After Denim

These Sperry Boots are great no matter the weather! It's water proof so perfect for rainy and snowy days.

Love at first sipp. Sipp sparkling organic drinks have a wide variety of flavors. To be honest I still haven't decided which one is my favorite. Right now, Mojo Berry is on top of the list.

When I went to OKLAHOMA!

Little did I know that life was going to take me to Oklahoma but there I was, last week, to support my brother as he graduated from boot camp for the Army. As any proud brother who is also a blogger would do I went scouting for a cool spot to take pictures while he was getting debriefed. Driving around the area this beautiful building turned up. It used to be a high school and is now used as a municipal building. If you ever find yourself in those neck of the woods do not dismay there are a few things you should do and local places you should eat at. Let's start with dessert, do go to Braum's. This place has cheap and delicious desserts and is kind of like a bodega too. For an actual meal go to Back Porch Draft House, everything we got there was delicious. Lastly, make sure to go to the Wichita Mountains Wildlife Refuge. This city slicker was in awe of the majestic bison and the beautiful landscape. All in all, I had a great time and will not lie when I tell you that I also went to Outback and Chuck E. Cheese because, family. I'll do anything for family.

I like to pack light and this Fjall Raven duffle was ideal for this short trip.

Sunglasses were a must during this trip! Sunglasses- RAEN

Bold High-low Fashion

I saw this banded collar shirt at the Carlos Campos' studio and did not think twice about getting it. This shirt was a bit bolder than what I'm used to but I took that as a challenge to style it my way. I wore it here with a pair of my favorite chinos from the GAP and my black Givenchy lace-ups. With more and more talented men's fashion designers creating amazing pieces that can fit your everyday wardrobe easy combinations like this can be a common place occurrence. This look is a great mix of high-low fashion. When making that higher end purchase make sure you love the piece, don't just get it because it's trendy. You'll see how much easier it will be to show your style know-how when it's time to wear it out.

To the onlooker it might seem I'm going sockless, what they don't see are my Mack Weldon no-show socks.

Survive Mother Nature With Tani

With the weather changing from day to day without rhyme or reason Tani's Thermaluxe thermal set is a lifesaver. I've been using them throughout the winter and love them. The silky fabric and light weight material just makes this extra layer of warmth all the more comfortable. Mother nature does not seem to make up her mind so get yourself Tani's thermaluxe thermals for all the cold fronts that await. Please note- I usually wear a small but was recommended to go up a size and it fits great.

Stay Warm This Winter

Temperatures have dropped in NYC and not gonna lie, I'm excited about it. This means it's also time for coats and parkas and not just light layers. I'm a huge fan of monochromatic looks. This all black look is an easy way to stay warm and look on point.

A Holiday Statement Piece

It's T-6 days until Christmas which means we are still in the midst of holiday festivities leading up to the big day! I'm sure you have a nice bow tie ready but you did that last year. Try this on for size, a beacon print cardigan. This one is from Denim & Supply and I absolutely love it. Every time I wear it I get compliments, it's warm and comfortable- all really important points. Here I styled it more casual but its easy to dress up with a white shirt or denim shirt and chinos. This cardigan will help you make an unexpected fashion statement at any gathering.

Pier59 Studio Turns 20

On October 27 the fashion community gathered to celebrate Pier59 Studio's 20th anniversary. Pier59 opened its doors in 1995 and since then there have been over 50,000 photoshoots within its doors. The event was hosted by Fern Mallis, creator of New York Fashion Week.

Fern Mallis

I remember when I freelanced for GQ and going to Pier59 with racks and racks of clothes and being part of some amazing editorials. Now, for this event I was invited to attend as media to cover the celebration and to boot I styled a couple of their guests including Sean Harju and Nathaniel Visser from Soul Artist Management

The guys and gal from SOUL ARTIST MANAGEMENT: From left to right- Nathaniel Visser, Filip Wolfe, Greg Chan (Agent), Xander Evitts, Leah Heyman (Agent), Melchior Domenique, Christophe Sanchez-Vahle (Agent), Sean Harju, Bryce Thompson, Justin Hopwood

For Natahniel Visser the goal was to have him in a cool but smart look. He's wearing his own jeans partnered with a blazer from Scott Langton and a Prada shirt. Sean Harju went for an all black look. He is wearing a black jacquard tuxedo jacket from Bonobos with a Calvin Klein shirt. Here's a closer look at Sean's look.

With over 200 models in a attendance they both stood out for all the right reasons.

Here's to many more years of creating iconic images at Pier59! Congrats on this great milestone.

WOOLRICH Turns 185!

There aren't a lot of companies that can say they're celebrating their 185th anniversary- congrats Woolrich John Rich & Bros.! As part of their celebration an intimate fête was held at the Soho, NYC location. To make the festivities extra special Fashion Illustrator Blair Breitenstein aka @Blairz showed drawings inspired by the Fall 2015 collection. Josh Rich 8th generation descendent of John Rich who founded the Woolrich Company took a moment to answer a couple of questions about the 185th anniversary collection.

Rocco Scazzariello, Blair Breitenstein and Josh Rich

-What elements from the archives were used in the FW15 collection as part of the 185th anniversary?

The Hunting Coat and Hunting Vest in Traditional Woolrich Hunting Check which is part of the Pennsylvania Tuxedo. Also different blanket patterns that were used as lining in the Arctic Parka.
The Greenlander Stripes (pop color stripes on cream color Wool) which were mainly used in the 70’s for Coats and Blankets. Also, different blanket patterns from the Civil War series in Wool Coats and linings.

-What piece from the collection would you say everyman should own?

Definitely the Arctic Parka which is an absolute timeless piece that can be worn for every occasion and with every kind of outfit.

-Which are your favorite pieces?

Different interpretations of the classic Arctic Parka in Stretch Cordura and Gore Tex and there are also very soft and luxurious Cashmere sweaters.

--As a bonus I also asked Blair Breitenstein a few questions about her great illustrations too!

-You typically focus on womenswear illustrations, how was it for you to interpret the Woolrich woman and man?

The Woolrich man was easy to interpret for me because the Arctic Parka is essentially the same on a man or a woman! I simply sharpened the edges on the men's faces and shoulders to enhance the masculinity of the sketches... To create a contrast to my round slim female figures. I exaggerated square shoulders and jawlines on the men wearing the Pennsylvania tuxedos as well.... Just because I like to exaggerate!

-Will you be doing more menswear illustrations in the near future?

I still prefer drawing women's clothing to men's clothing...I just find them more interesting in the way of shape/ volume and color.

-What's your favorite piece from the FW15 collection?

I loved the Woolrich Mink, black and red polka dot cape!

Mad about Skinny Tie Madness

Come to think of it I have a few reasons why I'm mad for Skinny Tie Madness. First, they have a huge array of choices. If you tend for the more conservative side you'll find repp stripes and cool plaids. For the more adventurous types they have a bunch a fashion forward prints and colors. I chose some of my favorites and as you can see there are a lot to choose from. The price point is another reason this company is noteworthy at $29 or less they are definitely worth your attention. Now you can add Skinny Tie Madness to your sartorial go-to list.

Road Trip: Hoover Dam, NV

It was my second time to Hoover Dam and I still enjoyed visiting and walking around. This place is really impressive as it was built during the Great Depression and it only took them 5 years to build it. Love walking around the Deco Style architecture and the beautiful landscape.

Deciding what to wear for this trip was a no-brainer. A light cotton t-shirt from Penfield, distressed jeans from Denim & SupplyPalladium boots and belt from Mission Belt had me ready for the heat and anything that came my way.

Do not be deceived, these boots are extremely comfortable.
The bridge over Hoover Dam. Talk about reaching great heights!
