Spring Blues

We're practically half way through May and we still can't put away our sweaters here in the northeast. So here I am embracing the cold temperatures with this Wrangler sweatshirt and still feeling like it's spring with the Sebago boat shoes. How are you making your outfits work with this indecisive weather?

I'm a sucker for the color blue and comfortable sweatshirts. So this one here was a win-win!

These Sebago boat shoes have become my go-to's for spring and summer.

Justin Bethel and this Spring's Essentials

Justin Bethel from the Arizona Cardinals also does a bit of modeling. He's signed with top modeling agency Wilhelmina in NYC and as you can see the camera loves him. Here he shows us a few spring essentials that every man needs this season.

V-Day or Any Day

Presently, the cold and bitter temperatures have me thinking of what I would like for Valentines day- a trip to a warm tropical place sounds perfect. Whether you're leaving this weekend or planning for a trip in the near future here are some key pieces I think she and I would not leave without. These will have you both looking chic and yet coordinated.

The Usual Suspects: Public School S/S 2016

The Public School NYC Spring/Summer 2016 collection was everything but usual. Their presentation as a Police line up with models and some special guests made for a unique experience. I thought to myself why didn't anyone do this before. I was invited backstage and spoke with Aveda's Global Artist Director Allen Ruiz about the hair styling for this show. He said, " This is my fourth season with designer Dao-Yi Chow and Maxwell Osborne. each time their designs get more innovative which allows me to have much more fun with styling the hair." One of the focuses was to accentuate each models individuality and uniqueness, be it the texture, color, or length of their hair.

Love the variety of hair styles and textures.

Curly or straight, bleached or natural- it's all good at Public School.

One of the special guests was none other than Nick Wooster.

Cadet Spring/Summer 2016 Collection

One of the things that I look forward to is what time period and place will Cadet take us next season. For next summer they will take us to France preceding the invasion to Normandy by the paratroopers in the demolition section of the United States Army. You'll find black, olive, and khaki in addition to slate in the collection. I'm really digging the great styling with the belted blazers. What do you think? I came a bit early to the presentation and was able to catch the models being placed before the presentation officially started.

It's great to see the stylist in his element as everything has to be perfect for the presentation.

And yes, there was a female model amongst the male models. I think it was great. Sneakers- Greats

These aren't your common place jackets. Look at all those details.

Setting the mood, the live music was a nice addition in the studio.

David Hart Spring/Summer 2016

The David Hart Spring/Summer 2016 collection was inspired by the Bauhaus and it's artists during the inter-war period in Germany. This makes the collection even more special because a time of war inspired such a beautiful interpretation of menswear. The first thing that came to mind when I entered the space of the presentation was stained glass with all it's different colors affected by the sun. You'll find suits made from Irish linen, merino wool, and even an iridescent tuxedo. Take a look and find the next look that will make you the most memorable at the party for all the right reasons.

Close up- What do you think of the necklace? Would you rock it?
These are seriously one of my favorite combination of looks. I think the sunglasses have something to do with it in addition to the rich hues.
Bold suiting and tuxes were seen throughout the collection.

NYFW:M Spring Summer '16 Inspirations

In just a couple of days the very first New York Fashion Week: Men will be here and we will be able to see the men's collections for Spring/Summer 2016! For the upcoming shows I was able to get a few inspiration illustrations from some designers that are showing. Seeing a fashion illustration is mad special because it gives you a glimpse of how the clothes and looks appear inside the designer's mind. Take a gander at these illustrations from David Hart, Lucio Castro, PLAC and CWST. Notice the proportions, colors and feel of each look they are almost like the designers finger prints, unique to each one.

PLAC

PLAC's Mood board
"For SS16, PLAC was inspired by a line in the song 'Wake-up' by Arcade fire to bring an energetic collection of youthful rebellion as seen in urban silhouettes inspired by the function and modern details of neo-military and contemporary sportswear."

Carlos Campos Fall/Winter 2015

I spoke about the casting process for the Carlos Campos in the previous post. Now see the finished product! The Fall/Winter 2015 collection came about from two artists inspired by each other. Artist and Art Director Rafafans created a series based on Carlos' Gaucho-inspired Fall 2014 collection. Carlos was then inspired by the image overlay and technique Rafafans used in his series. Staying true to his tailoring and minimalist DNA Carlos Campos has created another beautiful collection. Take a look at a few of my favorite looks.

Qing- wears the double breasted suit with a bomber. Take note of the cropped suit.

Toni- A huge fan of the color block and tuxedo pants.

Mac- Probably one of my favorite looks. This is a jumpsuit partnered with a neoprene gilet!

Patrick- Color block tunic with dropped rise trouser.

Ernest Alexander Spring/Summer 15

Although it still doesn't feel like spring will be here any time soon you can start getting ready now. Spring collections are now hitting stores and sites, so get excited! Ernest Alexander is one you should check out. Inspired by the 1960's Americas Cup the nautical theme is seen throughout the collection. Tailored blazers, pants and shorts are lightweight and perfect for warmer weather. I love the bright yellow jacket and bags along side the periwinkle and slate grays. Take a look here at a few of my favorite looks from the Spring/Summer 2015 look book.

Sneak Peek at Bonobos Spring 2015

At the Bonobos Spring '15 Presentation I got to see their take on what we'll want to wear next spring. You'll find All-American pieces like the denim jacket in a variety of shades. Florals, will also make an appearance in not-so-subtle patterns but in an ever-so-cool vibe. The collection is all about layering and using great natural fabrics. You'll be set to spend a chilly night at the Hampton's or Martha's Vineyard or for the hot days which are sure to come. Here are a few of the looks that caught my eye.

Spring and stripes are always going to go hand in hand.

Cord shorts, yep, you should try them out too.

If you don't already get yourself some white denim.

This cardigan is a great transitional piece.

This suit looks even better in person.
