Bespoke Post: Viscata Espadrilles

Hola Amigos! This month's Bespoke Post box item hails from the land of Spain. Viscata Sitges Espadrilles are my first pair of espadrilles and I 'm excited to try them out. That's one of the great things about Bespoke Post, the access to special authentic items you would normally not know where to get.

The espadrilles are handcrafted by Spanish artisans and made with a light weight cotton canvas upper and 100% jute sole to make these another great footwear option for the summer season. Espadrilles have been around for hundreds of years and a staple in the Mediterranean. Let's show them how it's done in this side of the pond.

How to Wear Men's Espadrilles Tips:

Where to wear them: Poolside, ocean side, farmer's market, anywhere chill
What to wear them with: shorts, swim trunks, khakis, rolled up jeans
When to wear them: as soon as it gets warm
Why wear them: Their classic, to replace the old flip flops, you're an adult

Summer is Almost Here

Slowly summer is making its way to the city. I know I'll hate myself for saying this but I want summer to get here stat! Summer means trips to the beach, roof top parties and lot of more daylight which equals more time to explore too. Recently, I went to check out a new bagel joint that opened in my hood, Bob's Bagel. If you find yourself in Harlem make sure to try these delicious bagels and take some great pics while you're at it.

Delicious food always brings a smile to my face.

Shirt and Pants- Descendants of Thieves

This George Frost ID Bracelet is all I needed to go along with this look.

Boat shoes are a summer staple and these from Sebago Litesides collection have been updated to be much lighter!

Because a great t-shirt is also a summer necessity. Mack Weldon has a huge array of great colors.

NYC's Spring Palette

Spring is officially here but sadly, it seems some places have not received the memo! NYC is one of those places, so here we are, yearning warmer weather but having to still wear our winter gear. I've found a few pieces that will help you during these days of climatic uncertainty. For starters, I found this rich blue windbreaker from Robert Graham, the perfect extra layer during spring. This winter  season, turtlenecks have been the MVP and the grey ribbed turtleneck from Life After Denim is keeping me nice and warm even during spring. If you are looking for a cap to add to your collection Gents always has a wide variety. I love this wool stripe one that gives me that extra bit of warmth on the old noggin.

Step right this way- Gola sneakers to take you around town.

Indulging Your Senses

Colognes are something I think men can learn more about and be willing to expand their options.  How many colognes do you own and use? I really want to know, so please comment below! As time has passed I've been more perceptive and willing to try out new scents. When you try out different colognes you'll learn what you like and what you don't. There's needs to be that trial and error. Fortunately this is not life or death, so take some risks. If you feel you need a brief introduction to the world of fragrances and its jargon then go here. After checking out my cologne guide you'll be able to articulate your thoughts on why you like it or not. One of the colognes I've come across recently is POLO RED by Ralph Lauren and I'm pleased with its soft yet masculine scent.

A cologne adds an extra weightless layer to your outfit and life. Whether you are going to work or out on the town there is a cologne that will be right for you. Next time you are out looking for a cologne try something new and check out POLO RED, you'll see for yourself how well it will fit your lifestyle.

Leather Weather

Mother Nature has been quite fickle this season and I'm okay with that as it lets me enjoy the newest additions to my wardrobe, a moto jacket from Andrew Marc and Sperry boots. These pieces are part of the new classic styles you'll see from now on. I like to call them no-brainer pieces that you'll never regret owning.

Love the subtle details of the moto jacket and quilted shoulder.

Chambray Shirt- Life After Denim

These Sperry Boots are great no matter the weather! It's water proof so perfect for rainy and snowy days.

Love at first sipp. Sipp sparkling organic drinks have a wide variety of flavors. To be honest I still haven't decided which one is my favorite. Right now, Mojo Berry is on top of the list.

Must-Have Gift Guide

It's that time of the year, the most wonderful time of the year! One of my favorite things to do is getting thoughtful gifts for people I love and appreciate. Here are a few items I've found that help avoid one very serious problem, remembering their size. So, if the guy your shopping for tends to be more classic check out the Baume & Mercie Classima watch. If he likes to get creative then the Impossible Project camera is the way to go. For the fashionable guy in your life the Vince Camuto tote will be heaven sent. Practically every man needs to shave and Harry's Shave Set is one of the best out there (I use their blade, so I know). Also, consider getting a gift that gives back like Kiehl's Faile Collection which will donate 100% of proceeds to Feeding America. Lastly, one of my favorite new brands, Rich Uncle NYC, has cool illustrations that can be found on a variety of things you already use, like a canvas tote, IPhone case and pillow cases. With all these great options all I can say is Happy Gifting!

1- Baume & Mercier Classima Watch
2- Vince Camuto Tote
3- Impossible Project Camera
4- Harry's Shave Kit
5- Kiehl's Faile Collection for a Cause
6- Rich Uncle NYC Tote

Scents 101: Tous Man

Spanish brand TOUS reached out and asked if I'd like to try out one of their newest colognes, TOUS Man. They sent it along with a description and I encountered a whole new set of vocabulary I wasn't familiar with. The cologne smells great and I couldn't quite put my finger on the best way to describe the scent to others. So here goes, I did a bit of research and found this handy glossary from In To The Gloss, thanks!

Top Notes: Orange, Grapefruit breeze - Which means, it's the lightest note and the first thing you smell.

Heart Notes: Mint, Guaiac wood - They lie somewhere in the middle of the notes and usually deal with florals

Base Notes: Tonka beans, is from a seed and is very vanillic with a hint of cinnamon. Vetiver, is an essential oil from the roots of tall grass form India but can also be found in Haiti.

In short I would describe this scent as light and fresh. It smells better and better as time time goes by.

Well Suited With Indochino

I was invited over to the Indochino location in SoHo recently to experience first hand their custom tailoring service. The chic surroundings helped set the tone as I decided on all the details of the suit. I had someone along the way explaining and showing examples of all the different choices that are available in the showroom. My biggest suggestion is to vocalize your thoughts and doubts so they know what you are looking for and imagining and they will direct you to great options. Be aware that to make a custom suit takes time, so allow your self a few weeks to get things done as you will need to come in for a final fitting once the suit is ready. Take a look at my new favorite suit, the fit and all the details I chose.

Shirt and tie- Nick Graham

One of my favorite details is the monograming option. Oh, and that lining, I chose that too and it's a swarm of bees!

I went for the three piece suit and love how the waist coat fits.
