Year-End Thank Yous

Looking back on 2012, I'm filled with gratitude for the experiences and people I've met along the way. I'd like to make this post a thank you letter to my family, friends, to all who contributed and of course you, the reader!

A big thank you to the amazing interviewees model Akin Akman, actor Ryan Vigilant, director Vincent LaCrocq and leather goods maker Noah Marion. Thank you for taking the time to share what makes you passionate about your craft.

It was a great year for collaborations on Adentro Style with photographers and writers like Renee Rouleau, Alex Burkhuch, and Nathan Tran.

Some great adventures were had this year especially my trip to New York Fashion Week where I attended about dozen shows. Also, I was able to meet some of my favorite menswear designers like Michael Bastian, Carlos Campos and Luis Fernandez.

Another highlight of the year was the opportunity to become a men's style contributor on Rue La La's blog!

As you can see this year was filled with a lot of new types of posts like What I Wore, Favorite Four, and even gift guides. One that sticks out is my first music review for Two Lights Band.

Lastly, the most touching experiences was collecting shoes and hand delivering them to an orphanage in Mexico. Going there personally and handing out the shoes to each child was a very humbling moment I will never forget and will be forever thankful.

Pensando en este año estoy lleno de gratitude por las experiencias y personas que pude conocer. Quisiera dedicar este post con mucho agradecimiento a mi familia, amigos, todos los que contribuyeron, y especialmente y ti el lector.

Muchas gracias a las personas que entreviste este año como el modelo Akin Akman, el actor Ryan Vigilant, director Vincent LaCrocq, y Noah Marion.

Fue un buen año con tantos contribuyentes incluyendo Renee Rouleau, Alex Burkhuch, y Nathan Tran.

Unas de mis aventuras este año fue de asistir a New York Fashion Week a donde vi mas de una docena de desfiles de moda. Ademas pude conocer algunos de mi diseñadores de ropa masculina favoritos, Michael Bastian, Carlos Campos, y Luis Fernandez!

Otro acontecimento importante fue que Rue La La me invito a contribuir a su blog!

Como pueden ver este año empece a escribir nuevos tipos de posts como Que Me Puse Hoy, Mis Cuatro Favoritos, y Guías para Regalos. El que resalta en mi mente es el primer comentario de música del grupo Two Lights Band.

Por ultimo, una da las experiencias mas especiales fue de comprar zapatos y llevarlos personalmente a un orfanato en Mexico. Al ir y entregar a cada niño un par de zapatos fue algo bien lindo y nunca me olvidare.

The GANT by Michael Bastian SS13 collection took us to the Galapagos islands. With the music and chatter of the guests filling the air the models danced at the presentation. There was color everywhere- muted shades of blue, gray, taupe and green as well as shocks of bright yellow, orange, red and turquoise were seen throughout the collection. La colección de Primavera/ Verano de GANT por Michael Bastian nos llevo a las islas de Galapagos. La música y la gente llenaron el studio en lo que los models bailaban durante la presentación. Había colores por todos lados! La colección tenia diferentes tonos de azul, gris, marrón y verde, así como el color amarillo brillante, naranja, rojo y turquesa. Todo lo que puedo decir es que esta colección tendrá  tanto a las mujeres como a los hombres anhelando el próximo verano!

All this time having worked with models I never asked them what grooming products they use. I guess I was to shy and thought it might be a little odd. Luckily, writing for a blog allows for such a subject to be discussed. New York based Wilhelmina model Akin Akman, had no qualms answering my question, what are your summer grooming essentials? There is quite a list and he also shares some of the places he gets them. 

Durante todo este tiempo que he trabajado con modelos nunca les pregunté qué productos de aseo utilizan. Supongo que era tímido y pensé que podría ser un poco extraño. To shave I use my Neutrogena Mens Skin Clearing Shave Cream and my Gillette Fusion I've also got a trimmer so sometimes I grow my beard out and just occasionally trim it...

also throughout the day I use Cetaphil to keep my skin from getting dry and to cleanse...

Shampoo: Usually I use whatever is in my shower, lol, but lately my sister has been buying Moroccan Oil shampoo and I love it.

Hair styling: Moroccan oil and texturizing sea salt spray that I buy from Whole Foods. Occasionally I'll use Garnier Fructis Surf Hair Texture paste.

Summer Grooming Essentials: Elle German

Recently, I realized I didn't know a lot about skin care and grooming in general so I reached out to some of the people I know in the industry for some advice. This is the first installment of the Summer Grooming Essential series. One of the people I reached out to was Elle, we met while working on set at GILT. What is your hometown? My hometown is Izmir, Turkey

How long have you been modeling? I have been modeling for about 3 years now.

How did you get started in the modeling industry? How I got started is actually pretty fun!!:) So I was in College on a tennis scholarship but I had injured my back and broken my wrist at the time...and I was going to lose my scholarship and was not the happiest. I had been approached by modeling scouts before and I would always say no but then when all these injuries happened I had no idea where I was going with my life and how I would pay for school. A photographer came up to me again in Aventura mall and asked me if I would consider modeling for Ford Models Miami! I was about to say no again but my mother and sister dragged me to Ford and I got offered a contract on the spot.

What is your favorite place in the world? My favorite place in the world is Cesme, Turkey!

Work: Coca Cola worldwide print ad, Sony, Etro, Ralph Lauren look book, Wilson tennis campaign 2010 & 2011, Vintage Revolution jeans campaign, I've done Nordstrom

What has been the most memorable shoot? My most memorable shoot was shooting for Wilson tennis, I just loved every second of it because I've played tennis my whole life and to incorporate that into my career was incredible!

What do you do when you are not modeling? When I am not modeling I am always busy! haha...I take acting classes and go to auditions and castings. I teach group fitness at Crunch, I teach tennis, and kite surfing. I love hanging out with friends and family, going to the movies, park, beach etc...I also paint. My major in college was graphic design.

What is your personal style? My personal style is RRL! I love their jeans. I dress pretty casual jeans and t-shirt with my Ray-Bans and converse with my evil eye accessories that my family gives me!

Como empezaste modelando? La historia de como empeze fue divertido!! :) Estaba estudiando en la universidad con una beca de tenis pero me lastime la espalda y me rompi la muñeca...entonces iba perder mi beca y no estaba muy contento. Varios model scouts se me acercaron preguntando si estaba interesado en modelar y siempre le decia que no. Pero despues de las situaciones medicas no tenia idea que iba hacer con mi vida y como iba pagar por mis clases. Un Fotografo se me acreco en Aventura Mall y me preguntó si yo consideraria modelar para Ford Models Miami! Estaba a punto de decir que no de nuevo, pero mi madre y mi hermana me arrastraron a Ford y me ofrecieron un contrato en el acto.

Cual es tu sitio favorito en el mundo? Mi sitio favorito en el mundo es Cesme, Turquia

Cual ha sido la sesión de fotos mas memorable? el mas memorable tiene que ser el que hice con Wilson Tenis. Me encantó cada segundo de ella porque he jugado al tenis toda mi vida e incorporar esto en mi carrera fue increíble!

Que haces cuando no estas modelando? Cuando no estoy modelando siempre estoy ocupado...jaja. Tomo clases de actuación y voy a audiciones y castings. Doy clases de fitness en el gimnasio Crunch, doy clases de tenis, y kite surfing. Me encanta salir con amigos y la familia, ir al cine, a la playa, al parque etc. También pinto. Mi especialidad en la universidad fue el diseño grafico.
